Emunah is the Hebrew word for Faith. But it goes beyond just believing in the word of God. Emunah-level faith means you entrust your life entirely to God. Everything you seek, you seek from God, your peace, joy, love, fulfillment, protection, comfort, and so on. When you get these things from God, the world can not take them from you. Matt 6:25-34, Jesus instructs us not to worry about what we will eat, what we will wear, and where we will live. Jesus is giving us an example of Emunah-level faith. God supplies our needs therefore, we are not to pray for our needs, but instead, we are to thank God for supplying us efficiently.
Many times in the Bible, Jesus healed someone because of their faith, in Mark 5:34, Luke 18:42, and Luke 17:11-19, to name a few. Not only does Emunah heal, but it also allows us to do all things, as explained in Philippians 4:13: I can do all things through God. As you can see, Emunah is very powerful and unlocks much in the Kingdom. I cannot stress enough how important the level of your faith is. Miracles happen because of a very high level of trust in God.
A level of belief as explained in Matt18:2-4, Jesus instructs His disciples to become like small children to enter the Kingdom. Childlike faith means you rely on and trust in God, your ABBA or Father, as a child does. Total reliance on the Father as your provider, healer, savior, protector, and guide. Psalm 37:23 expresses how God guides the steps of the righteous on a path toward their best life.
It is all about Emunah! When Jesus asked who do you think I am, Luke 9:18-20, He was testing their faith. The level of your faith also determines your level of revelation. So Jesus knew if they answered correctly, their faith was high because their revelation came from the Father. Many in His own country could not receive Him; Mark 6:4 states how a profit is without honor in his own country. In His own country, they could only see Him as the carpenter's son. As a result, Jesus performed a few miracles in His hometown. Their lack of faith withheld His miracles from them.
Jesus often tried to keep these miracles of faith between Him and who He healed. I believe He did this because healing wasn't for everyone in the sense that He knew not everyone had Emunah. He wasn't there to hand out healing, but if you showed Emunah, He could not resist healing you. The lady with the issue of blood merely touched His garment, but her faith healed her, Luke 8:43-48. Before you ask God for something, you must have Emunah in your heart.
This is not the prosperity gospel many churches preach. Where God is like Santa Claus or a magical fairy. Simply show up on Sunday, drop 10% in the box, and go on about your life, expecting a promotion and financial gain but not knowing God or what it means to be in His Kingdom.
